Orange, NSW

A bustling country city in the Central West – Orange is known as a heavy-hitting food and wine destination. Having never visited before, but hearing rave reviews – I reached out to my social media network to find the very best gems to plan our visit to this thriving region. We had two nights here and I was determined to make the most of them!

Top mention and the loudest shout out to Hey Rosey – a super chic wine bar with amazing wines and seriously incredible food. Immaculate vibes and a flawless experience – if you only go to one place in Orange, it has to be here.

We stayed at the beautiful heritage Byng St Boutique Hotel – perfectly located to explore the city, but tucked away in the leafy streets for the ultimate retreat from the hustle and bustle. I recommend choosing one of the heritage suites – beautifully styled and each with it’s own personality. And do not miss breakfast here – incredibly options and the ideal way to start the day.

Very well-known for their cool-climate wines, there are plentiful options for cellar doors and wineries to visit. Do not skip a visit to Printhe Wines – the most stunning modern cellar door, beautiful views and incredible service. The wines are delicious (particularly famous for their sparkling!) and we happily brought a haul home with us. We also loved See Saw Wines – the only certified organic winery in Orange. Really interesting wines and one for those who love a natty or skinsy wine! There were so many others we were recommended, but just didn’t have time for. These included: Phillip Shaw, Ross Hill, Rowley, Nashdale, Heifer Station, Swinging Bridge, and Logan Wines.

An Orange institution and must visit – Racine Bakery. The line was endless (but the service super speedy!) – the locals really love this spot. Great coffee and amazing bread and pastries – not to be missed! And if we didn’t have breakfast sorted at our hotel, Byng St Café was a regular recommendation from a lot of people – so definitely check this one out if you can.

If you get the chance to enjoy a walk – we loved our lap around Lake Canobolas and a wander through the beautiful Cook Park. And for those a little more daring – there’s apparently a great walk up Mount Canobolas too!

I’m already planning a return visit (secretely for another round of Hey Rosey – this place is what my dreams are made of!) to explore the surrounding towns and more of the local region, including Millthorpe and Carcoar. Just 3.5hours drive from Sydney and Canberra – this is such a great spot for a weekend of food & wine in the countryside.
